Open Participant Intake & Developer Network

Developers, builders, investors, nonprofit and community-based developers, real estate professionals, property owners, and development partners are invited to join the Newport News Community Developer Roundtable network. This short intake helps us understand who is developing, or trying to develop, in Newport News, what is making small and community scale projects harder, and what could help more projects move forward.

We are especially interested in small, incremental, infill, nonprofit, and neighborhood scale development, generally projects of approximately 25 residential units or fewer.

About the Newport News Community Developer Roundtable

The Newport News Community Developer Roundtable is a recurring space for people doing, planning, or supporting development in Newport News, Virginia. Hosted by Charity Means Love Foundation, the Roundtable brings together small-scale and emerging developers, builders, investors, nonprofit and community-based developers, real estate professionals, property owners, and development partners.

Our focus is practical: identifying the barriers that make development harder, sharing resources and experience, strengthening connections among local developers, and developing community-informed solutions that can help more projects move forward.

Who should join?

If you are developing, trying to develop, investing, building, providing professional services, exploring a project, or working to expand housing and neighborhood development opportunities in Newport News, this network is for you. We especially welcome people working on small-scale, infill, affordable and workforce housing, nonprofit, Community Land Trust, rehabilitation, mixed-use, and neighborhood-serving projects.

Monthly Roundtables

Community Developer Roundtables are held monthly on the first Wednesday at 5:00 PM. Each session creates space to discuss current development challenges, learn from one another, identify useful resources and connections, and surface recurring issues affecting development in Newport News.
